A safe website to download "PSP Video 9" from is the PSP Video 9 website, some other great websites to download it for free are: Cnet, Softonic, After Dawn, Major Geeks, Chip, Playstation, Xmarks, Gamespot, to name a few.

A PSP UMD can't function without the outer plastic case surrounding the disk. The PSP won't even recognise it as there being anything inserted. So there's probably little chance of the disk or the PSP being damaged.
You use a Pandory's battery to overwrite a PSP's firmware, the basic programming that enables a PSP to operate. If anything goes wrong with this process, then the PSP will be 'bricked', it will be useless and unable to switch on.So there is risk involved, that is something that cannot be denied.
Unfortuantly fellow PSP player you yet cannot play iso's on your PSP. Persevere these few months until some gets a hack. To be on the safe side, do not upgrade your firmware. I really feel for you :).
You can either buy a Pandora's Battery (100% safe) and a Magic Memory Stick, or buy a downgrading UMD disk on eBay (UMD downgraders can brick your PSP). if you upgrade your psp to 5.03 ofw then download chickHEN R2 for psp 5.03 it will get you cfw which is like a downgrade
PSP Homebrew is software for the Sony PSP that is unofficial (Not made by Sony or any game companies E.G. Rockstar). Homebrew software most of the time is safe and some Homebrew software is worth getting but some can't run on higher PSP Firmware so if you get into Homebrew, it isn't worth upgrading your PSP's Firmware.
