Yes, there is a co-op mode for Battlefield 3, thought it's a bit weak, and only offers a handful of levels. Completing them unlocks weapons to use in multiplayer, which is a nice touch.
However, Multiplayer has a lot of emphasis on co-operation. Players are divided into squads of 4. When you're in one of these squads, you can spawn-in on squad members, as well as see where they are at any time. The different classes also complement each other nicely, allowing for some creative strategy.
