Yes. If they're playing online or campaign there tends to be too much swearing and violence which younger kids don't handle as well as older kids. You should be at least 10 before you start playing Call of Duty, cause then you can handle it a little more.

No it is not
Call of duty 1 was released in 2003 Call of duty: united offensive in 2004 Call of duty 2 in 2005 Call of duty 3 in 2006 Call of duty 4: modern warfare in 2007 Call of duty: world at war in 2008 Call of duty modern warfare 2 in this year And the upcoming CoD Call of Duty Black Ops: 2010
It does have a high amount of violence but in today's society there is violence everywhere. I would say it is acceptable for most 13 year old children because it does not have a gore effect as does Call of Duty: World at War. I also play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 online with a few 13 year old children, and they aren't violent people.

Largely, it depends on the standing of the parents on whether or not their 9 year old should play Call of Duty or not. It should also be noted that the modern Call of Duty series is rated "M" for Mature 17+. This rating is not posted on the original Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty: United Offensive, or Call of Duty 3 - in which are rated "T" for Teens.
