Is hunter from spyro a leopard?

Its weird, but he's a cross between a leopard and cheeta. I know that he is a cheetah. It said so in the second Spyro game, when he first appeared in the series. I was so excited when they brought him back in Eternal Night and Dawn of the Dragon! I do agree, though, that he has leopard spots.
