2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 720M Graphics, Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM it is good even for high end gaming. It is a good configuration. If you plan to buy it certainly go ahead.

Uhhh, an ASUS G51JX gaming series rig laptop? Why, what are YOU on?
There were many that came close to being the best gaming laptop in 2011 bit there is one that stands out better than the rest. That laptop has a name, that name is ASUS G53SX.
The i5 processor contains a very descent HD4000 graphics processor that allows gaming. It is not for hardcore gaming. An additional graphics card makes the laptop a good gaming one...go for it !!

I would recommend Looking at an Asus N or K series laptop, most N series should be able to handle it, and higher end K series should as well. However neither can compete with a G series and if you intend to do heavy gaming you're always better off getting a gaming laptop.

The Asus G72GX is much better for gaming because it has a GTX 260M while the HP DV7 has a GT 230M. However, the HP also has some extremely high quality parts in it. In the end, I would have to give it to Asus because they are a better brand and the video card they gave their laptop is better. The same? The HP has an i7, so It might balance out the difference between the two?
