Bedrock is the hardest stone, and cannot be broken in any way in pure unmodded survival. End portal frame blocks are also indistructible and cannot be destroyed in any way. The third hardest material is obsidian, as the only means of destroying it is mining it with a diamond pick for 130 ingame ticks (45 seconds).
If you can't mine any block, it's a bug. Otherwise, you might be trying to mine bedrock, which is indestructable.
