Midnight Club LA doesn't have cheat codes per say. You find these barrel things and they unlock certain codes. For example no police or all cars unlocked. Unfortunately if you actually use them, autosave is disabled. So, you can't gain money or progress in the career at all.

I tried to find a way to cheat with it too (snickers a bit) as it is exceedingly difficult.

There is not a cheat for unlocking all cars. I looked everywhere for that cheat for my game and I can't find one anywhere that actually works.
