Are you trying to come up with an alternative tuning setup? It sounds like you're tryng to get a "chord" without using your' fret hand. Please give me more details. Tell me what string is in what position and what is it's tuning.
Without specialist equipment it is very difficult to know if your Subaru has been tuned. If the car has been tuned the redline is almost always increased. This can be checked.
