the wii remote itself has a sensor on it therefore you are able to point it at the sensor bar and the result is the little finger thingy. The nunchuck does not have the sensor thing in it so therefore the answer to your question is no. That is the reason wii remotes cost 50 dollars because of complex wiring that goes through them and the nunchuck only costs 20.

I don't know exactly how many or which ones individual, but most games that require a nunchuck it works with. I just got mine yesterday, and it works with most of my games but only the ones that you have to use a nunchuck with, you'll know these games because if you remove the nunchuck in the middle of the game it will say somethig like "Please insert the nunchuck accessory" or something like that. They also don't work with games like Wii Sports where you actually have to move the wii remote to have it react. The only games I know for sure work with them is the Call of Duty games, My Sims games, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl
