Seeing the big picture
The meaning of seeing the big picture or the whole picture is to be able to see all sides of an issue without being biased. Big picture learning could be taking that unbiased opinion and solving the issue itself.
You can't see the big picture (woods) if you're focusing on the individual components (trees).
I understand that these folks are good at seeing the big picture, maybe you can be successful being an architect or Film director..... then again this is just speculation of speculation.

Without seeing the picture, I can't tell for sure. But, sometimes, pictures of planetary bodies have dark black lines or black dots on them. These are places where there wasn't data available. In other words, a picture of that part of the body wasn't taken or wasn't available.
