With a Spark plug gap tool :)
check the spark plug wires and the distributor cap wires
Disconnect the battery, and remove the spark plug wires one by one. Replace the spark plug wires in the same order, ensure the connection is firm, and connect the battery.
at the end of the plug wires in the head
I would try checking the spark plug wires, spark plugs, cap and rotor. I would consider replacing these if they are original. You might need a distributor. This this what is connected to the cap and rotor. This supplies the spark to the wires. I had a similar problem with a 94 aspire. It would hesitate when the gas pedal was pressed down and inconsistently stall when going in reverse after going on the freeway.
To change the spark plug wires on a 97 Buick LeSabre, first pull the wires loose from the plugs. After these are removed, pull the wires loose from the opposite end and replace them.
Could be in need of a tune up. Start with replacing the spark plugs and spark plug wires.
No. the plug wires are made different and the spark plugs ae NOT the correct heat range.
Remember the order of spark plug wires while connected. Disconnect spark plug wires. Make sure that there is no sand or dirt around before removing the plugs. Remove the spark plugs. It's a good idea to have a magnetic spark plug socket. Insert a new spark plug in the socket, be careful, do not drop the plug. Usually plugs come with preset gap and do not need adjustment. If you change gap most likely you will have to get a new spark plug. Install spark plugs. The torque should be around 45 N*m. Connect the wires in the order. Start the engine.
Perhaps spark plug wires are porous (due to age) and need to be replaced
there are two follow the spark plug wires down they are mounted on or near the tranny
You may have the wires to the wrong plugs.
