I've studied well your question, i have the game too and i discovered that: u should use a combination of Fire tipe with an water tipe because its a good combination to kill moltres and articuno without weaknesses, and groudon, such as many others, a grass type with a fire type is good too wich i preffer, my team is A Treecko and a Charmander because treecko can learn bullet seed wich gives max 6 hits, and they're all powerfull, besides treecko's the best to recruit Pokemon when evolved because it learns DETECT, and the more turns u are fighting, more the chance to recruit, so it has a long life, you can use detect to walk around and then Use bullet seed, witch does 200 damage per hit, in a good level and it kills almost 90% of the times, so i preffer treecko, if you choose a fire water type combo choose charmander and squirtle or mudkip and charmander, and i think this one's better because mudkip is imune to electric atacks for zapdos and raikou, its best
