The Mage's Magic Level is tied to his level. Keep leveling him up, and higher magics will be unlocked. To get the last level of spells for the mage, the mage needs to do the promotion quest.
If your a mage you start out with it...thats all i know
Beast Mage is not a class, it's a "build", basically, get a high Intelligence stat and high Charisma, and then use the best pets and spells that are available
Nythera's quest chains can both be found in Warlic's zone, you must have complete the first in order to unlock the Rage of the Dragon Mage chain.
Basically what you should do is train your team members. Make sure you have a lot of potions with you and you cant use cougalant or anything like that on it cos it wont work. use a lot of spells then fight normally. by the way you will need the help of a mage when it comes to spell casting because of the amount of mp they will have
There is an item called Black Grimmoire (I believe) that you find in the mage tower. It can be given as a gift to Morrigan and that should activate the quest.
