The party members are (in order) Vaan, Penelo, Fran, Balthier, Basch and Ashe. At first all but Vaan are guests of the party, but they will become permanent as the plot eventually goes on. Although in the prologue you play as Reks, Vaan's brother, but only up to the end of that part.
