What do you do when you download a mod on to a USB?

i believe when you download a mod it goes in your document files for you to put on a memory stick and plug into your console. I believe that if its a pc you have a document of all your files for the game and i think that you import the file of the mod inside and re-instal ( I am no expert at these things so i would recommend that you check to see if this is correct )

First, I recommend the newest version of minecraft, 1.3.2. Most mods for that version are very simple to install. Now, I know that 1.4.1 is comming out soon, so I can't really garentee that this will work there. Also, use a new version of your .minecraft folder.

-First, download the correct version of the mod that goes with your minecraft version.

-Next, get Forge Universal (look it up on YouTube).

-Using WinRaR or some similar program, open up your minecraft.jar file in your .minecraft>bin folder.

-Delete the meta-inf folder.

-Open up the forge .jar folder and drag all of the files into your minecraft.jar

-Sart minecraft and let forge start up.

-next, in your .minecraft folder, you should see several new files and folders. The ones you will need are mods and coremods.

-Most new mods just need to be placed in one of the 2 folders mentioned above, and thats it. Some however have different instructions. Make sure you read what that mod says to do on the homepage of the mod.

Tips: If you are haveing problems downloading a fresh .minecraft, it may be your Anti virus soft ware. Try disabling it while you download. ( I know that AVG will not let you download it unless you dissable AVG). If you get a black screen on start up, make sure you followed the above instructhins PRECICLY. Not just 1 or 2 of them. You may also have the wrong version of the mod for your minecraft. Most mods arn't updated to 1.3.2 yet, but they should be soon. (NEI and Forestry are already updated). Some mods need to be placed in your coremods folder, not the mods folder. (like NEI and its core, CodeChickenCore)

IMPORTANT!!! If you don't get these instructions or get a black screen, then look up the mod you want to get on YouTube. Usually, it isn't your computer that is making minecraft crash, just that you did something wrong.

Last but not least, I can't stress the importance of the versions! Make SURE you are getting the right versions of everything, or else it will always crash!

Download the file the mod gives you and go into your roaming folder. To get there type in your folders search bar "%appdata%" and you should see a .minecraft folder. Go into the folder and make a mods folder. Take the file from the mod and put it in the mods folder. Reload minecraft and you should have the mod! You can also search on youtube "how to download minecraft mods 1.8" and some videos should pop up
