What do you do with the boomerang in Zelda links awakening?

First, equip your boomerang as you do with everything else. Then press B so that you get a shot of yourself holding the boomerang over your head, and press Z on the nunchuck to lock on to something. You can lock on to seven things at a time. After locking on to your objects, let go of B and watch your boomerang fly! Hope this helped!

It functions as a long range weapon and can also pick up items such as rupees and hearts from a distance.

Use the Boomerang to destroy the multi-colored tentacles that block certain passageways. Then, you can complete the rest of the dungeon.
