What do you do with the poachers saw on legend of Zelda ocarina of time?

u need to give it to the carpenter in the desert over the bridge which u need the long shot. (u get it in the water temple) then keep going what the people say and eventually u will get the gorons sword thing.

The poacher's saw is an item that must be given to the carpenter son's father (aka, the guy constantly 'yelling' or yawning), located in Kakariko village by the tree near the entrance to the village.
