What happens to roxas at the end?

*SPOILERS*After Roxas leaves the Organization, he goes to the Clock Tower in Twilight Town, where he fights Xion. Once Roxas defeats Xion in 4 battles, Xion starts to fade away and asks Roxas to stop Xemnas and free Kingdom Hearts. Roxas then ventures to The World That Never Was, where Riku confronts and defeats Roxas by finally releasing the darkness within Riku's heart. Riku gives Roxas to DiZ, who then erases Roxas' memory of the Organization and places him in a virtual Twilight Town. This is where Kingdom Hearts II begins.

Towards the end of Kingdom Hearts II, Sora is encountered by Axel in a portal called Betwixt & Between while he is on his way to stop Xemnas in The World That Never Was. A multitude of Dusk Nobodies appear, and Axel knows that he must sacrifice his own life to save Sora. Axel creates a fiery explosion and obliterates all of the remaining Nobodies. Axel then starts to fade away, and Sora says "I'll see you in the next life.". Axel chuckles and says "Just because you have a next life...." He then fades away completely.

He joins with Soras heart after a battle and then at the Altar of Naught he mets Namine and lets her join with Kairi
