Like in the PC and Xbox versions, you can find coal in cave systems. Some usually at cave entrances. you can also keep digging down a 6 x 6 pit if you are too scared. also remember to craft ladders ^.^nonononono i have never found a cave system in minecraft pocket edition to get coal you can make what i call a spiral mine. no if u search it on google it is different. to make a spiral mine just make a small pit a 4x4 is fine. then build stair cases up so in the middle there is sunlight shining so u dont need light ^.^that way u can use up your loads of cobble for the stairs :P if you keep going down you might be lucky enough to hit diamonds or gold :D. lazy? get charcoal: smelt woodcharcoal is the same thing as coal but with the char in the front lol
