2005 is better in my opinion, because of the addition of of the Hitters Eye, which really levels the playing field between hitter and batter. In '04 it was impossible to tell whether a pitcher was throwing a 99mph fastball or a 77mph curveball until it was too late. The hitters' eye simulates the little things a hitter can pick up on such as grip or release point that couldn't be put into a PS2 game's graphics. It plays smoother on defense as well, allowing for more touch fielding w/ the right joystick.
