Representational play, also known as imaginative or symbolic play, is a form of play where children use their imagination to create scenarios and roles, often imitating real-life situations or characters. This type of play typically involves using objects to represent something else, such as using a stick as a sword or a box as a car. It is crucial for cognitive development, as it enhances creativity, problem-solving skills, and social understanding. Through representational play, children learn to express emotions, negotiate roles, and explore different perspectives.
