A first guess would be 1, but a number of factors cause it to deviate:

•It depends on what type of average you use. The standard average of (A1+A2+…+An)/n will result in an average well above 1, for example if one person has 1 kill 2 deaths and another has 2 kills 1 death the average will be (0.5 + 2)/2 = 1.25, not 1.

The proper average in this case would be the geometric mean:

[nth root of](A1*A2*…*An)

•Dashboarders. Some people exit to the Xbox dashboard or Playstation XMB and their stats for a game are erased.

•Hackers/Derankers. 'Nuff said.

•Suicides.

•People have played for different amounts of time. One person may have KDR 1.1 and have 11000 kills / 10000 deaths, while another may have KDR 0 and have 0 kills 1 death. The overall average would of course be very close to 1.1, but a simple average of the two people's KDR's would be 0.55. This is why you shouldn't take an average of averages.
