What is the best Pokemon party?

There is no "best" party, as in any specific Pokemon or moves. However, the best type of party is one that spans all different types, and has moves from every single type, as well as moves that make up for the types not covered by the Pokemon themselves. I.e. if you have Typhlosion, but no electric Pokemon in your team, give Typhlosion Thunder Punch, this gives him a fighting surprise for water types, and offers an advantage over other types that are weak to electric moves.

In Addition:

Dual type Pokemon are a little less susceptible to damage and can learn different types of moves. To assemble an effective fighting party, have Water, Fire, and Grass as the the basic Pokemon. Then have Ice types or Electric types and Ground types. This way, your Pokemon have lots of strengths against various opponents which is useful, but you should use whatever suits your battle style best. Flying types are pretty good too.

P.S. Ice is good against Dragon, Ground against Electric, Rock against Flying, Water against Fire, Fire against Grass, Grass against Water, Electric against Water.
