I assume you are speaking of a Ruger 10/22 semiautomatic rotary clip carbine. For small game and plinking any quality 22 long fire will do. CCI stingers are best for rabbit while regular Federal 22 LR will do for most plinking
There are varying opinions on what ammo is the "best." Generally speaking, the best ammo to use is whichever ammo is the most reliable in your particular gun.
