In oblivion, there are two types of melee weapons, blunt and blade, blade is good for slashing and quick slicing, blunt is good for power attacks, blade is two, but not as good. You can do more damage quickly with the blade, and high damage with a blunt in power attacks. I would come to the conclusion that the blade is better. EXAMPLE: the Glass war hammer has a power of about 15, the glass dagger has a power of 11. The war hammer is the highest powered blunt, but the dagger is the lowest blade, but still has good damage, so again you can conclude that the blade is better then the blunt.
