The best character to play as on Mario Kart Wii is King Boo.

Why?

Because King Boo has the best handling in the game. You can use him on anything fast and will make it easier to turn. Using funky kong on something fast will make you smash in to a wall because he is going so fast.

My personal favourite combination is King Boo on the Bowser Bike on manual.

PS. Because there is no separate question for 'who is the fastest character on Mario kart wii', the fastest is Baby Daisy. Not Funky Kong.

There really is no strength involved in Mario Kart Wii. If you want to know what the heaviest kart in Mario Kart Wii is, it is the Jetsetter. The heavier the kart, the more people you can knock around. I guess, if you want to know who the strongest one is, it would probably depend on your opinion. To me, it seems that Bowser is the strongest.
