What is the fastest way to accumulate honor points?

Honor points are spent at the honor vendors in each faction's major city. Orgimmar for the horde, and Stormwind for the Alliance. The gear and weapons you can get with them are more for PVP encounters than they are for PVE (mobs/instances).

A good way to gain quick honor is to do the Random Battleground each day. You will gain bonus honor, and many people do it. Because of this, you are also more likely to face people of lower skill and gear level, not just higher.

When your faction controls Wintergrasp, Heroic Dungeon bosses drop Stonekeeper's Shards. These can be turned in for Wintergrasp Commendations at 30 shards each. Using a commendation (on any character, they are Bind on Account so you can gather them on one character and send them to another to use) gives 2000 honor points.

In the old days, you could join battlegrounds but not actually do anything, so that you gain honor without work (the rest earns it for you); however this is a very dishonest practice, and will likely get you flagged AFK by other players. You can then no longer earn honor and may eventually get kicked from the battleground.

Wintergrasp will net you an easy 150 honor or so if it's your first time doing it that week, provided your team is defending (attacking can be very difficult since the siege engines get 1-shot, and you will get nearly 1-shot too since your health is low compared to level 85s).Also at 85 do Tol Barad. You get some honor every time win or lose and once a week you can do the quest and get an additional 200.
