A clapper box is a device used in theatrical productions to create sound effects, typically for simulating thunder or other loud noises. It consists of two wooden boards that are clapped together to produce a sharp, resonant sound. The clapper box can enhance the auditory experience of a performance, adding realism and drama to scenes that require sound effects. Additionally, it can serve as a simple and effective tool in various settings beyond theater, such as in music or education.
The shaping machine usually cuts on the forward stroke and does not on the backward stroke. So its not required for the tool to be in contact with the work piece when its on the backward stroke. This is ensured by the Clapper box, a device which is hinged to the ram. The lifting of the cutting tool by the clapper box ensures longer tool life and also accidental scratch or other machining defects on the work piece/final product.
A clapper box on a shaper is designed to hold the cutting tool while allowing it to lift off the workpiece during the return stroke. This prevents the tool from dragging across the surface, which could damage both the tool and the workpiece. By lifting the tool, the clapper box ensures a clean and efficient cutting action, enhancing the quality of the machined surface.
The Clapper was created in 1986.
Brittany Clapper's birth name is Brittany Joanne Clapper.
