The tank. There wasn't necessarily one specific vehicle that negated trench warfare, but an entire idealogical shift to circumvent "the trench". Increased use of mechanizes artillery, particularly the tank, negated numerical advantages by laying firepower that could only be matched by other artillery. This is when the military went inside, so to speak, as opposed to laying massive numbers of troops exposed in the field. Also increased air support made trenches and masses of exposed troops incredibly vulnerable assets. Could you imagine how quickly troops in a trench would fall to an AC 130, A 10, or Apache?
Remember, helicopters, being low and slow, are increasingly susceptible to ground-to-air attack (Black Hawk Down scenario). Look for an increased role of UAVs in the future of all branches. They can hover over an area and provide substantial ground support and attack capabilities for a long time.
