In the initial release of World of Warcraft the level cap was 60.

The Burning Crusade expansion pack increased it to 70.

The Wrath of the Lich King expansion pack increased it to 80.

In the Cataclysm expansion pack it increases to 85.

In the Mists of Pandaria expansion pack, the max level will increase to 90
