Digidesign is now called Avid. Pro Tools is available to purchase and download from Avid's official website. It can also be purchased in a boxed version from major computer software retailers including Amazon.

As far as I know from using protools and audacity the answer is no. You can import each individual aif file into protools but the plug in effects will not be included from protools to audacity when you import to audacity.

no you cannot use protools without an interface as a matter of fact you cant use it with just any interface either it must be a protools compatible interface and the software must be compatible with the interface.

The Line6 UX2 is compatible with ProTools 9. ProTools 8 and previous versions are only compatible with Avid hardware (Mbox and Digi interfaces).
Not that i know of, but i heard that there's a crack one that makes Pro tools thinks there's an ilok.
There are many audio editing softwares. The most known nowadays are ProTools, Logic, Ableton Live, Audacity, Garage Band, and Nuendo. Some are more designed for professional use. I personally prefer ProTools and Logic.
He uses ProTools and Celemony Melodyne.
He used Protools but moved to Pro Logic 9 :) Its better for his workflow
