lol i love this question...ok the reason for the monkeys or brutes, as we all know them. is because after the first halo bungie introduced the brutes to us. the elites don't like the brutes which is why the humans fight on the same side as them now. however, some grunts and jackals stayed with the brute force and the brutes replaced the elites in the covenant force. that's why the centril bad guys in halo 3 are brutes, because the centril bad guys of 1 and 2, are now on your side. so the left over jackals and grunts that didnt transfer sides fight on the brutes team. the main point here...is that the brutes are the new elites in a sense...and the elites are the new human side fighters....so bungie needed a new full time bad guy, which is the almighty brute...or monkey, if you will...ANSWERif you mean by those monkeys that don't move and are huddled up on a cliff??that is an Easter egg (not literally,just a phrase you say to describes these things)that bungie felt like putting for fun,there are many more all in diffrent levels,you just have to fined them =)-roxas uchihayeah that's definitely the answer.there is also a duck.not exactly sure why they put a duck and some monkeys holding a teddy bear but they're there.
