Plato, the Greek Philosopher came up with the Atlantis legend in his Timaeos in 360 BC. (Box your compass) . There are few pre-Plato sources. There are no bonafide historical artifacts such as statues, coins, etc that have been definitively tied to this legendary and more than probably mythical , Island continent.
