You look on you map and the star is by the river that has no name it says "examine." So then you have to get the golden nugget in the game! First, five sparkles are going to come up pick the brightest one. After you pick it up shake the pan sideways very slowly if you see the golden nugget make shrue not to drop it. After you get the golden nugget go to rock bridge and sell it to that guy. he will get you 5 diffrent potions which witch will help you catch the gang. Then after he gives you the potions go back and return your gold pan and trade it for the oil. well thats it bye!

You get the claim map by winning a game of Slapjack at the casino in Dos Cactos. Travel to the river conjunction shown on the map and get off your horse. Dip the gold pan into the sand near the shiny spots, then slosh out the sand by moving your mouse from side to side. You may get gold dust, but your aim is to find a large nugget. When you find it, use it to buy the potions from the peddler in Rock Ridge. If you haven't already used the oil can, take the gold pan back to the trading post and swap for it. You will use it in the Clock Tower in Diamond plains.
