E-102 Gamma is the creation of Doctor Eggman, who created E-101 Beta, and the rest of the numbers 101-106 in order to find Chaos Emeralds used to strengthen Chaos and to destroy Sonic and his friends. During the story, Gamma suffers a malfunction after meeting Amy and soon develops a 'conscience' of sorts. This 'conscience' led him to begin looking for his banished brothers in order to 'rescue' them from Eggman's control. He completes his mission but is fatally wounded by his older brother, Beta. Limping away, Gamma collapses and explodes. Whether he does this because of his 'wounds' or free will is uknown.
Dr eggman created him using numerous mechanical parts.
