Who was the main boss of the first World of Warcraft?

World bosses are those really powerfull mobs out in the world of Azeroth. The ones that take an entire raid group to kill. These are not dungeon bosses, or raid bosses. They are outside of the dungeons, have spawn times, and can totally wreck your day if you go looking for them. (Link below is to the known world bosses, might be a little out of date)

The four dragons of the nightmare were considered world bosses until the Cataclysm hit. Now, only Ysondre and Taerar are left, and players help Ysondre kill Taerar.

Other world bosses that might me in the game still Doomlord Kazzak (Hellfire Peninsula),Teremus the Devourer (Blasted Lands).

Each expansion had its own main boss; in Classic WoW this was Kel'thuzad in Naxxramas. In the Burning Crusade, it was Kil'jaeden in Sunwell Plateau. And finally, the Lich King in Wrath of the Lich King.

Most likely, the coming expansion (Cataclysm) will feature Deathwing as the last boss.

Well the time period would answer that question differently. "Mists of Pandaria" has come to an end to its story recently and now "Warloards of Draenor" is starting. At the time being, the "final boss" will likely be in a raid at the end of the new patch as the others have ended. In "Mists of Pandaria," the final boss was "Garrosh Hellscream" in the level 90 raid "Siege of Orgrimmar."

There really wasn't one. Just a couple level 60 raids. It really wasn't centered around ultimate bosses like Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King are.

The current big baddie in World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, is the Lich King. In the next expansion (Cataclysm), it will be Deathwing.
