Since boys are less expressive compared to girls, it is common that they channel their emotions in a different way, much different than what girls would do. Your brother doesn't hate you, he loves you and he doesn't think it is right for him to show it in an affectionate way which would result to him maybe bullying you or punching you in the arm. This is also because men, even from previous generations have considered this "inexpressive trait" to be tradition which is a product of what society expects from them.
