Your computer might not be able to handle the game, check any error notices to see if there is an easy fix. Otherwise, you might need to buy new hardware.
in main menu click multiplayer and it will open up server window and select a server from there. If it doesnt show up restart computer it might not work if you just installed the game and didnt restart yet.

If not try to refresh it and select a map name like a de_dust ect. sometimes you have to restart the computer after installing a game for it to work properly.
