Replace the fuel filter. This fixed the same problem on my 1983 300 turbo diesel.
You cannot convert a turbo diesel driven car to a petrol motor. You have to buy a car that uses the petrol motor.
I get a range from a low of 22mpg around town up to 35mpg on the highway, depending on fuel, tuning, etc. I seem to average around 27-30mpg. 1980 Mercedes 300SD 293,000 miles and counting
A turbo charger does not need electrics to work it is driven by exhaust gasses.
