this is really bugging me!!!!! (not an answer)
i have this same problem with my sims 2 game ,and to solve it i looked at many sites for an answer but the only thing i suggest is that you wait a few sim days :try these your sims may be unhappy ,try to make them all in a good mood #2 the saving problem usually happends when a special event happends such as: having babies ,typing in cheat codes, getting killed, growing up or being unhappy: to fix this try waiting a few days till the speacial event is fully over, if that doesnt work try uninstalling the game resarting your computer then reinstal the game (hope that helped) and hopefullyly your have a happier simming :]

I was playing Sims then killed all of the people in the family and rebuilt their house and now I can't save the house why not?
You can't save the house because you have no Sims living in it. If you want to save it, you have to go back to the neighborhood view and then go to the house and save it.

That is a glitch. When you sims die it should just revert to build/buy mode and the Go to Neighborhood,Save, and Quit buttons should all still work. If your game doesnt work that way you may have to just forcequit the game then next time you play dont let the simmies die.

That happened to me, it means that they are stuck in a glitch, you cannot do anything, you must delete the family or go to the neighborhood, and don't save.

While on the neighborhood screen there's a circle in between the save and quit button and the create a family and housing buttons. There you can decorate your neighborhood with trees,trains,and other stuff for no money and no problems.
