Will there be a Call ot Duty 8?

There probably will but it won't come out for a while because they are still making Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3

The title of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is not yet set in stone and they found a number of advantages in not naming Call of Duty Black Ops as Call of Duty World at War II. They sales were not hurt by changing the name. There may never be a 4th Call of Duty Modern Warfare but Infinity Ward will design another Call of Duty game for Activision after the 2011 release just like Treyarch will certainly design the 2012 version of the 9th COD release.

The next Call of Duty series game released will be developed by Treyarch and released November 2012. It will not be a Modern Warfare series game. The unnamed game will take until then to develop and get ready for the proven highly successful November Holiday season release date.

The Modern Warfare 3 was released November 8 2011 and sold over 12 million copies it's first week. The next release of a Modern Warfare series game will not be until two years after the November 8 2011 release of MW3. Infinity Ward who is owned by Activision has the rights to MW and has developed all three games in the series. It takes a long time for the companies to test and develop the games and then prepare a successful marketing campaign so Treyarch and Infinity Ward have been alternating release years for some time under the ownership of Activision

Call of Duty has not used numbers since Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare. The seventh game is Call of Duty Black Ops and was released on November 9 2010
