What was the purpose of the painting the death of marat?

The dead man in the painting, Jean-Paul Marat, was a comrade of the artist, Jacques-Louis David, during the French Revolution. Marat was a journalist and a radical who was known for rallying people for the revolt, and was ultimately murdered by Charlotte Corday, (mentioned in the note Marat is holding in the painting). Corday felt that by killing Marat, thousands of deaths in the name of the revolution could be avoided. The purpose could be interpreted as a memorial to the artist's friend as well as a political statement for the horrendous occurrences brought about from the French Revolution.

How much do oil painting lessons cost?

Go to the website of your local television stations and look for web links to organizations that provide activities for seniors or youth groups. Painting lessons are right there with decoupage and macrome. There are also television shows proving step by step instruction in water colors and oils that even I could probably do! Check the Sunday paper for arts and crafts shows you can attend to go and meet some artists who could help you get going.

What might a painting with spectacular splotches of color look like?

A painting with spectacular splotches of color could feature vibrant swirls and bursts of hues, creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow. The colors might range from bold primaries to soft pastels, blending and contrasting in unexpected ways. The composition could evoke a sense of movement and energy, drawing the viewer's eye across the canvas. Overall, it would convey a joyful, chaotic beauty that invites interpretation and emotional response.

Does anyone know about a painter named M.L. Hanson-at least he or she signed that way?

It appears there could be a painter with a similar name, but not signed exactly M.L. Hanson. Some options are Albert J Hanson who was an Austrailian painter who was active around the turn of the century. He died in 1914. Another option is Leon William Hanson who pops up in the landscapes category, as well as Australia. There doesn't appear to be an exact match, or anyone who signed their name that way.
