Use bright colors for curtains, vanity, mirrors (make rooms look bigger), throw pillows, pictures, and other items for accent. Things like picture collages and flowers make a room look nice, too.
If the two walls are of a continuous piece, it is easiest to continue the colour throughout, however if the walls are divided, say by an archway or some other architectural feature then you are into personal taste area. I personally prefer to use a feature wall colour in a place where it does not extend into another room. That may be because I have a preference for saturated colours and too much of them can be hard for some people to live with. Most recently I painted a client's living room - dining room with a light blue-grey, the two rooms were divided by an archway with french doors in it, so on the dining room side I painted the archway wall a deep saturated sapphire blue. It compliment her dinning room artwork, linens and dishes. Then I painted the living room side of the archway wall in a medium, darkish grey (the same as the other walls but four steps darker on the colour chart), to pick up the colours in her carpet and upholstered furniture. You can't see the dark colours from the other room, but both are enhanced by the technique.
Actually, lime is big right now as is grey. An antique white or ivory to be more conservative. Shades of soft brown or tan are sophisticated. Just DO NOT paint the wall white! Aqua blue is a soothing cool colour. If you are painting a bedroom or other "quiet" room, you may want to combine it with soft blue, for a restful room. This will work well in a bedroom for either a male or female. To make the room more feminine use white accessories to make it more masculine, try accessories in a dark teal or natural wood tones. For a more feminine look combine the aqua with a very soft raspberry pink and once again use white accents. This combination is still soothing and restful, but warmer than the blue. In more public rooms, for example a living room or dining room, aqua with a light tan and white is reminiscent of the casual seaside. Use "cottage" accessories for a finished casual and liveable look. For a more formal room, use a darker teal (in the same family as your aqua) with dark wood accents and touches of antique brass. Aqua in a kitchen has a clean look. If your cabinetry is light wood, pickled or painted in a light colour, all the better.

Some great colors for a living room would be greyish, brown, neutral tones. These colors will depend on what you really like, and how inviting you want it to look.
It really depends on your taste and what look you are going for. However, if you want the living room to look larger, use cream colors and/or icy blues. Bright colors can make the room look more modern if used correctly, and white or other light colors can create an airy, comfortable feel. Try warm colors if you are going for the cozy/inviting aura. It's all up to you.
This is very subjective as good colors for painting the interior of a house will depend on the type of house and taste of the persons living in the house. A good idea for small rooms is to use light colors to make them look bigger and neutral colors when looking to sell a house and not put people off.
Color Options for a Living RoomEvery home and homeowner is different. The colors that a family chooses for the living room could be intended to work with some very distinctive furniture. It could also be designed to reflect a very festive mood. Overwhelmingly, however, the more unique and bold colors are not the most popular choices for a living room. There are three main colors that are used more than any other when painting the main living space within a home.White is the most popular of the interior paint colors. It is selected more than any other as a primary wall color and is also used on trim, doors and ceilings. The color white is often chosen because it can make smaller spaces appear larger. It can also fill a room with ambient light even if there is only a small amount of direct sun. White is a popular choice because it pairs well with many other colors and can be subtly tinted when needed. Some homes avoid white, however, because it can be very difficult to keep clean.A very popular interior paint color that is used in living rooms is a warm brown. This color is the opposite of white in some ways. It is used in larger spaces to create a feeling of warmth and closeness in order to counteract the colder, more distance feeling of a large and open space. Warm browns are used because they do not show minor stains or dust as readily as a white room would. Brown is a popular color for trim and some doors. It is not normally used in smaller rooms because the darker color can create a cramped feeling.Yellow and golden tones are popular interior paint colors. These colors provide walls with a subtle sense of natural age. They are complimented by a wide range of other colors including browns and reds. Yellow walls reflect light in a way that tends to be reminiscent of sunlight. This can give a room a more vibrant and friendlier atmosphere. When not used on walls, yellow and gold can be found as a color on ceilings and doors.
