Getting a job where you are surrounded with beautiful art all day is something that a lot of people dream about. Art jobs may not be very lucrative, but they can be extremely stable. Here are some ways to get an art job in your local area.

.Take an art history class. Getting a job where you are dealing with art is going to take some education. You want to be familiar with famous artists and their works before you go in for an interview with your prospective employer. You can find classes very cheap at your local community college or a museum in your area. Do some research on art history and art appreciation classes around your city/

.Intern at a museum. Museums are always looking for interns. Since most museums are funded by the state, the majority of them are very flexible with their internships. Interns don’t get paid, but this can be an invaluable leg up when a job becomes available at the museum or a local gallery. Visit you local museums or go to their websites to find out about how to apply and when they are taking on new resumes for their internships.

.Become a frequent art gazer. In order to find art jobs, you want to hang around places that offer them. Go to the museums and galleries around your areas and start to talk to people that you see hanging around. Private galleries are really great for finding jobs because they are always looking for passionate people. Get acquainted with the employees and ask about special events they are having. Art gallery owners are always present at their events so you can talk to them if you’re in attendance.

.Attend local art shows. A lot of communities will have local art shows in their parks and streets during the summer months. Go to these art shows with a mission at hand. Talk to local artists about how you love art and how you would like to get a job in the industry. Since these artists are always trying to get their pieces shown at local galleries they will have advanced knowledge about employment opportunities.
