I'm not sure at all if this is correct, but my old geography teacher (and an ex-marine) told us that if you're ever trapped in a whirlpool the best way to escape it is by swimming to the bottom, at which point the force pulling you down disappears. Although i suppose you would then swim back to the surface and just get sucked back into it. Sucks to be you.
Yesterday,my friend and I went to a a whirlpool! -- Other examples may be: "I felt as though I was in a ship caught in a whirlpool, pulled in by the current, unable to escape." "Create a whirlpool in the water by swirling a spoon around the edge." "If the travelers expected to escape the impression they were under by driving down to the rapids and whirlpool below, they were mistaken."

To safely escape from a whirlpool, swim parallel to the shore or the direction of the current until you are out of the whirlpool's pull. Do not try to swim against the current as it can be exhausting and dangerous. If you are unable to swim out, try to float on your back and signal for help. It is important to remain calm and conserve your energy while waiting for assistance.
To survive a whirlpool, try to remain calm and avoid panicking. Swim parallel to the current toward the edge of the whirlpool rather than directly against it, as this can help you escape its pull. If you're caught in the center, conserve your energy and float until you can break free of the spinning water. Once you're out of the whirlpool, swim to safety and signal for help if needed.
Whirlpool
When you get sucked into a whirlpool, you are typically caught in a powerful circular water current that can pull you down or around. The experience can be disorienting and dangerous, as the water can drag you underwater or push you toward the center. If you manage to stay calm and swim parallel to the shore or toward the edge of the whirlpool, you may be able to escape its grip. However, it's crucial to be cautious, as whirlpools can be unpredictable and strong.
