Well, technically anything that can breath can drown, but as a vampire is dead and therefore does not need to breathe, they wouldn't logically be able to breathe - as far as I am aware. ;)

However, in various folklore stories, people talk of throwing vampires into rivers - this would, as far as I can figure - only work if they were tied to a breezeblock or something.

Then again, if you factor in a vampire's unnatural strength...

In the original books a Vampire could be killed if it were submerged in the pure running waters of a stream.

they do hate "holy" water but, i don't think they really care about normal water.

i think its like humans and, say, dirt we don't love it , but were not scared of it.

Vampires hate "holy water" because they have no soul, and they are the undead, living on the blood of normal alive people. Holy water is poison to the enemies of God. Normal water probably has no effect on the vampire.

No, a lack of oxygen doesn't kill vampires only makes them comatose (at worst). Vampire have endured being buried for centuries only to arise and become active.
