if you have closed your pool down for the winter (i.e. winterized it) then no. you should have put in a good dose of chemicals & if you live in an area the freezes you should drain the pool an inch or two below the water jets so you won't be able to run the pump anyway

The PVC valve is located in the right , passenger valve cover. test and replace involve same procedures. remove valve, still connected to hose, from valve cover. hold finger over end of valve. if vacuum is felt ,it is OK, if no vacuum is felt, remove valve from hose and feel for vacuum. if vacuum is felt at intake hose, then you must replace the Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve (PVC) valve. valve comes off cover by just pulling. valve comes off hose same way.
