You may need a new valve especially if you have tried or have succeeded in moving the valve position while the pump was running.
its behind the air filter
To replace a shower handle without replacing the valve, you can typically find replacement handles that are compatible with your existing valve. Look for handles that are designed to fit your specific valve model, and follow the manufacturer's instructions for installation.
You may have a large chunk blocking the discharge valve, try opening the valve with the pump off and moving a broom handle upinside the valve, you should have a two and one half inch valve for the dischargeso a handle or something smaller, just may be blocking the hole at the valve to let the water out.most people have a problem getting the filter to prime and keep running. If you have a popular punp and filter just remove the discharge valve and see if anything is blocking the hole.
back-washing a sand filter sand filter with amultiport valve # Turn of the pump# while pressing down on valve handle, turn it from the FILTER to the BACKWASH position # start the pump # usually there is a clear bubble on or near the multiport valve. it shows the condition of the water. at first the water in it will look dirty when it clears up, turn of the pump.# Turn multiport valve handle to RINSE and Run it rinse for about 30 seconds seconds. # Turn off the pump then move the multiport valve handle to FILTER position # Turn pump back on and note lower pressure. ----Back washing a D.E. filter with a multiport valve; # Turn of the pump# while pressing down on valve handle, turn it from the FILTER to the BACKWASH position # Start the pump# Let the water run for 2 - 3 minutes or until it runs clear. Turn of the pump.# Turn multiport valve handle to RINSE and Run it rinse for about 5 to10 seconds. Turn of the pump.# Move the handle to BACKWASH. Turn on pump again until water runs clear. do this about 3 - 4 times, going from backwash to rinse, Backwash & Rinse, to ensure a thorough backwash. # Turn of the motor and move multiport valve handle back to the FILTER position # Turn pump back on# Add 1 lb D.E. powder per 10 sq ft of filter area. Check on the filter tank. ---- Cleaning a Cartridge filter # Turn of the pump # Open the air bleeder opened, # Remove the cover, # Remove the cartridge # Hose it thoroughly from top to bottom, until all of the debris stuck to it is gone # Soaking the cartridge in a TSP (trisodium-phosphate) or similar solution can be helpful especially with older filters that can suffer from blocked pores. NOTE Do not use TSP with Baquacil or Soft Swim for sanitation.----
To determine if a valve is open or closed, you can visually inspect the position of the valve handle or lever. If the handle is parallel to the pipe, the valve is open. If the handle is perpendicular to the pipe, the valve is closed.
Notnormally You may have to top up the water a bit because the back wash process tends to lower the water level of the pool a bit bit no hoses need to be plugged in anywhere as the backwash system is part of the filtration set up. Below I have put in backwash instructions---- back-washing a sand filter sand filter with amultiport valve # Turn of the pump# while pressing down on valve handle, turn it from the FILTER to the BACKWASH position # start the pump # usually there is a clear bubble on or near the multiport valve. it shows the condition of the water. at first the water in it will look dirty when it clears up, turn of the pump.# Turn multiport valve handle to RINSE and Run it rinse for about 30 seconds seconds. The handle faces the direction of flow
If your Spa is attached to your pool more than likely your valve actuator is not set in the correct mode.
To replace a single handle shower valve, first turn off the water supply to the shower. Remove the handle and trim plate to access the valve. Disconnect the valve from the pipes and install the new valve in its place. Reattach the handle and trim plate, then turn the water supply back on to test the new valve.
To perform a valve handle replacement, first turn off the water supply to the valve. Use a wrench to loosen and remove the old handle. Then, align the new handle with the valve stem and tighten it securely with the wrench. Finally, turn the water supply back on to test the new handle.
The pump ( the equipment with the motor attached) does not have a handle to turn or otherwise. But the filter ( the large tank) does have some sort of handle. Read that label at the handle. If this is a rotory valve the "handle" should always be turned clockwise for rotation and NEVER rotate the valve while the pump is on and running. Labels for the different positions should be positioned so as to see them from the top of the valve just under or around the valve top. Different valves will vary as to what positions you have available. They should be FILTER, BACK WASH, WASTE, BYPASS , ETC. These should be self explainetory. The "mode" of the pump is immaterial because the pump is either on or off. You need to get a glossary as to what the different components are before you tamper with anything. k
