How do you fish in breath of fire 1?

On several spots on the world map, you will see a small moving icon in the sea of a few small fish; additionally, you will see a rock jutting out to mark the fishing spot. Like all Breath of Fire games, you need a rod and some bait. Once you have them, equip them and stand next to the fishing spot. Press A to cast. The fishing in Breath of Fire I is a lot more simple than Breath of Fire II or Breath of Fire III (I've never played the other two), so it's not really a minigame.

You'll need something with a lot of endurance, which is the Charm Rod. You can get this after you talk to Claris in Evrai, and she helps you get out through the toilet. When you see a dresser, raid it to find the rod.
