If you are not getting rid of it you are Probably leaving too many live traces of it in the pool after having cleaned it. This is a drastic method that worked like a beauty for me when I had a similar problem years ago. (1) throw in double the recommended copper based algaecide, (2) over dose it with chlorine, (3) scrub the walls and floor again thoroughly. (4) turn of the filtration equipment. (5) cast a strong clarifier over the surface of the pool, (6) let it settle for 2 or 3 days. If every thing goes according to plan You will end up with beautifully clear water on top of a cloudy layer of water with algae dead and alive at the bottom of the pool. the top of the sludge layer is clearly delineated. (7) gently hand vacuum all of the cloudy sludgy looking water from the bottom of the pool directly to waste. Do not put it through the filter. (8) Backwash, Rinse, Set to filter(9) top up the pool. You should by now have gotten rid of most of the algae and have regained control of it.

Why cant you get rid of floating green algae in your fish tank?

Floating green algae can be difficult to get rid of because it thrives in nutrient-rich water with excess light. To control it, you can reduce feeding, decrease light exposure, and increase water changes to help keep nutrient levels in check. Additionally, adding algae-eating fish or invertebrates can help consume the algae and prevent it from spreading.
